About Me

I am an entrepreneur and writer with deep expertise in technology, operations, leadership, and communications, and I am dedicated to helping people and organizations live into their highest potential. I strive to apply technology to solving wicked problems, and you can find me most often working in nonprofit, mission-driven organizations focused on progressive social justice issues.

To be the best I can be in this mission, I have been on a path of continuous learning to not only address my insatiable curiosity about what’s new and innovative in the world of work, but also to ensure that I have the knowledge and credentials necessary to perform with a high degree of expertise and confidence.

  • Software Product Development using Agile Methodologies
    I have spent more than a decade learning, growing, and practicing as an Agilist. I have certifications including:
    • ScrumMaster (since 2/2010)
    • Scrum Product Owner (since 3/2010)
    • Agile Team Facilitation (since 4/2015)
    • Agile Coach (since 4/2015)
    • In addition, I have completed coursework from the Pragmatic Institute in Practical Product Mangement (2/2013) and Requirements That Work (2/2013)
    • Finally, I am also a long-time full-stack developer and have been hands-on building software, both at work and at home, for more than 25 years. I’ve brought many concepts to life, in teams and on my own, and you’ll always find me working on something new and world changing!

    I’ve climbed multiple ladders over my career, and over the past 15+ years, I have served in several high-level and executive management roles in several companies spanning multiple industries. My leadership style is to lead with curiosity and leans into servant and transformative leadership, with which I strive to lift the organization and every person in my purview to their highest potential. I’ve been through several leadership training journeys over these years, including:
    • Master of Arts Degree in Transformative Leadership, which really kicked off my foray into servant leadership
    • Rockwood Leadership Institute: The Art of Leadership program (via Tides Foundation)
    • Cultivating Leadership: WikiLead program (via Wikimedia Foundation)
    • Frequent executive coaching since 2008

In my free time, I keep busy caring for chickens, bees and a large market garden, and I dabble in building local food businesses.
